Main Line school districts: which ZIP crosses which line, and how to check an address

Key takeaway

The Lower Merion School District covers all of Gladwyne's ZIP but only part of Villanova's, Haverford's and Bryn Mawr's, so a Main Line mailing address won't settle the school system. Pull the parcel record first, then run the exact address in that district's own lookup before you write an offer. The catch is that each district's tool works differently, and the Main Line ZIP code guide covers everything else a ZIP does and doesn't tell you.

Who this guide is for

You're weighing a Main Line home at $1M or more and need to know which public school system an exact address falls in, how to confirm it, and what the district line does to the tax bill.

Main Line school district lines by ZIP code

Only Gladwyne's ZIP sits wholly inside one school district among the six towns on this site. Villanova, Haverford and Wynnewood each cross one line, and Bryn Mawr and Wayne each cross two, which puts three systems under one ZIP.

Town and ZIPSchool districts, by share of land areaZillow's typical home value, Sept 2026 (ZIP)
Gladwyne 19035Lower Merion 100%$1,625,035
Villanova 19085Radnor 57%, Lower Merion 43%$1,611,051
Haverford 19041Haverford Township 67%, Lower Merion 33%$1,167,168
Bryn Mawr 19010Radnor 46%, Lower Merion 45%, Haverford Township 9%$923,610
Wayne 19087Tredyffrin/Easttown 50%, Radnor 35%, Upper Merion Area 15%$833,507
Wynnewood 19096Lower Merion 95%, Haverford Township 5%$819,197

Start with the parcel, because these districts follow municipal lines. The county property record gives you the municipality, the municipality points to the district, and the district's own tool gives you the school. Do that before you write an offer, and don't rely on the school field in a listing.

The shares come from a Census TIGERweb overlay of 2020 ZIP areas and current district boundaries, so they measure land rather than homes and can't assign any address.

Which school district is each Main Line town in?

Each town's answer is a set of possible districts, and only the address picks one.

Which school district is Gladwyne in?

Gladwyne's ZIP is 100% Lower Merion School District by land, and it's also the only one of the six wholly in one township and county. You can skip the district question on a Gladwyne home, but you still need the finder for the elementary and middle school.

Is Villanova in the Radnor or Lower Merion School District?

It's both: 57% of the ZIP's land is in Radnor and 43% in Lower Merion. That line also moves the county, since Radnor is in Delaware County and Lower Merion in Montgomery County. Two Villanova addresses at the same price can differ on all three.

Which school district is Haverford, PA in?

Haverford's ZIP is 67% School District of Haverford Township and 33% Lower Merion. The name misleads twice: Haverford, PA is a mailing address that's only partly inside Haverford Township, and The Haverford School on Lancaster Avenue is a private school with no tie to the public system. The Main Line private school tuition table has its price.

Which school district is Bryn Mawr in?

Bryn Mawr has the closest split of the six, with Radnor at 46%, Lower Merion at 45% and Haverford Township at 9%. Those shares also put 55% of the ZIP in Delaware County and 45% in Montgomery County. Expect any of three lookups here, so read the parcel record before you open one.

Which school district is Wayne, PA in?

Wayne's ZIP crosses three systems: Tredyffrin/Easttown 50%, Radnor 35% and Upper Merion Area 15%. Those three sit in three counties (Chester, Delaware and Montgomery), and no other town on this table reaches three counties. Tax figures for the Upper Merion part aren't verified here, so check the Montgomery County parcel record for that side.

Which school district is Wynnewood in?

Wynnewood is 95% Lower Merion and 5% Haverford Township, so it's the closest thing to a single answer after Gladwyne. That 5% is the catch: a Wynnewood address still needs the parcel check, because land share can't tell you which side it's on.

Main Line school district address lookups and boundary maps

Each district publishes a different tool, so the same question takes a different step in each. Use this table once the parcel record has told you the municipality.

Lower Merion School District: towns, schools and address finder

The Lower Merion School District serves Lower Merion Township and the Borough of Narberth, with about 8,600 students in 11 schools. It's the system that shows up under the most mailing addresses on this page.

What towns are in the Lower Merion School District?

By land, it holds all of the Gladwyne, Bala Cynwyd, Narberth and Merion Station ZIPs, 95% of Wynnewood's, and parts of Ardmore (46%), Bryn Mawr (45%), Villanova (43%) and Haverford (33%).

Lower Merion School District schools

There are two high schools (Harriton and Lower Merion), three middle schools (Bala Cynwyd, Black Rock and Welsh Valley) and six elementary schools (Belmont Hills, Cynwyd, Gladwyne, Merion, Penn Valley and Penn Wynne). Two high schools means the address question doesn't end at the district line inside Lower Merion.

How do I find which school an address goes to in Lower Merion?

Use the LMSD Address Finder with the exact house number. The Lower Merion School District map PDFs are marked for reference only, and the district's Transportation office decides addresses near a boundary, so write to transportation@lmsd.org if the map looks close.

Radnor Township School District: street descriptions instead of a map

The Radnor Township School District serves Radnor Township only, nearly 14 square miles, and it had 3,531 students in September 2026. It's the smallest of the four main systems by that count, and the one with the least convenient lookup.

Is there a Radnor School District map?

Not on its boundaries page. The Radnor school district boundaries page gives a written, street-by-street description with no map or address tool. It names Church Road, Aberdeen Terrace and Chamounix Circle one by one, and the last two land on opposite sides of an elementary line, so read your street's entry instead of judging from what's nearby.

Radnor school district schools and enrollment

There are five schools: Ithan Elementary (522), Radnor Elementary (528), Wayne Elementary (501), Radnor Middle (842) and Radnor High (1,138). K-5 assignment is by address across the three elementary schools, while every address shares one middle and one high school.

Tredyffrin/Easttown School District: address list and attendance areas

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District covers Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships, 38 square miles in eastern Chester County, including Berwyn, Chesterbrook, Devon and parts of Malvern and Wayne. Its enrollment tops 7,000 students.

How many schools are in Tredyffrin/Easttown School District?

It has eight: Conestoga High, T/E and Valley Forge Middle, and Beaumont, Devon, Hillside, New Eagle and Valley Forge Elementary.

Tredyffrin/Easttown address list and school district map

The T/E School Attendance Areas page offers a downloadable address list and a reference map. Search the list for the street, then email transport@tesd.net or call (610) 240-1680 about anything near a boundary, because Transportation decides those.

School District of Haverford Township: Google map for elementary lines

The School District of Haverford Township publishes an interactive Google map of elementary boundaries, and it's the quickest of the formats if you're starting from a pin. The district's home page says about 6,530 students attend.

Haverford school district schools

The district's site lists five elementary schools (Chatham Park, Chestnutwold, Coopertown, Lynnewood and Manoa), Haverford Middle School, Haverford High School and Haverford Online. Its boundary question is mainly an elementary one, and its name shows up in the Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Wynnewood and Ardmore ZIPs.

Upper Merion Area School District: the line inside Wayne's ZIP

Upper Merion Area School District holds about 15% of Wayne's ZIP by land, which puts a Montgomery County system under a mailing address otherwise split between Chester and Delaware counties. Its District Map and School Boundaries page has a My School Locator address tool plus walker-area maps, and the district's number is (610) 205-6400. Its site lists five elementary schools (Bridgeport, Caley, Candlebrook, Gulph and Roberts), a middle school and a high school.

Best school districts in Pennsylvania: what the Main Line rankings show

The rankings traceable here come from the districts' own sites, quoting a publisher and year, and each publisher uses its own method.

Lower Merion School District ranking

LMSD's own page says it was named a "Great Pennsylvania Schools" district in 2025 and is one of two Pennsylvania districts with Moody's highest bond rating, with no date on that second claim. No U.S. News state rank could be confirmed for this page, so check the publisher's current page before quoting one.

Radnor school district ranking

Radnor's site cites U.S. News 2025 with Radnor High 6th in Pennsylvania and 379th nationally, and Niche 2026 with the district first in Pennsylvania and 18th in the US. It also reports a Class of 2025 average SAT of 1,301 and a 99.83% four-year graduation rate. All of those are district-reported, so they aren't a like-for-like comparison with the other three.

Comparing every Main Line school district on one state report

Pennsylvania's Department of Education publishes school-level data through the Future Ready PA Index. Pull the same schools and year for each system you're comparing, and name the year when you repeat a figure, because no score from that report is printed here.

How a school district line changes your Main Line property tax

A school district line changes your rate because each district has its own millage, and in Lower Merion that's 36.5017 of the 47.2727 total mills for 2026. Here's what each 2026-27 school rate adds per $100,000 of assessed value.

School district2026-27 school millageSchool tax per $100,000 assessed
Lower Merion36.5017$3,650
Tredyffrin/Easttown31.1364$3,114
Haverford Township20.3386$2,034
Radnor Township16.3263$1,633

Don't turn that table into a verdict on price, because assessed value isn't market value and each county assesses differently. The two Delaware County districts are the cleanest comparison, at $401 per $100,000 assessed between Haverford Township and Radnor. The Main Line property tax guide has estimated bills with county and municipal millage added, and Upper Merion's rate isn't verified, so read that parcel's own record.

Main Line school districts in other ZIP codes

Five more ZIPs split, and four sit wholly in one system. Use this for a listing just outside the six towns, and start from the Main Line home buying overview or the private search if you don't have a shortlist yet.

Newtown Square 19073Marple Newtown 49%, Rose Tree Media 26%, Great Valley 21%, Radnor 4%

Newtown Square crosses the most, with four systems, and only its 4% touches a district covered above. Slivers under 1% of a ZIP's land were dropped, so run the address even where the table shows one name.

Main Line school district FAQs

What towns are in the Lower Merion School District?

The district serves Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough. By land, that takes in all of the Gladwyne, Bala Cynwyd, Narberth and Merion Station ZIPs, 95% of Wynnewood's, and parts of Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Villanova and Haverford. A mailing address in those last four can fall in another system, so check the parcel and then the LMSD Address Finder.

Is Villanova in the Radnor or Lower Merion School District?

It can be either. Villanova's ZIP, 19085, is 57% Radnor Township School District and 43% Lower Merion School District by land area. Those shares don't assign any address, so read the parcel record for the municipality. Then check the address on Radnor's written boundaries page or in LMSD's Address Finder.

Which school district is Wayne, PA in?

Three systems share Wayne's ZIP, 19087: Tredyffrin/Easttown at 50% of the land, Radnor Township at 35% and Upper Merion Area at 15%. The parcel record tells you the municipality, which points to the district. Each one then has its own lookup, so confirm the exact address there before you make an offer.

Which school district is Bryn Mawr in?

Bryn Mawr's ZIP, 19010, crosses three: Radnor Township at 46% of the land, Lower Merion at 45% and Haverford Township at 9%. It's the closest split among the six towns on this site. The land shares can't place a house, so pull the parcel record and use that district's own tool.

How do I find which school an address goes to in Lower Merion?

Enter the exact address in the LMSD Address Finder on the district's Transportation pages. Its elementary, middle and high school boundary maps are PDFs marked for reference only. If an address is near a boundary, the Transportation office decides it, so write to transportation@lmsd.org and keep the reply with your offer notes.

Is there a Radnor School District map?

The Radnor Township School District's boundaries page has a written, street-by-street description, with no map or address tool on it. Search the page for your street name and read the whole entry, because neighboring streets can land on different sides of an elementary line. Ask the district directly if your street isn't clear.

How many schools are in Tredyffrin/Easttown School District?

It has eight schools: Conestoga High, two middle schools (T/E and Valley Forge), and five elementary schools (Beaumont, Devon, Hillside, New Eagle and Valley Forge). The district covers Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships. It publishes a downloadable address list and reference map, and its Transportation office handles addresses near a boundary.

What is the ranking of the Lower Merion School District in Pennsylvania?

No state rank could be confirmed for this page, so check the publisher's current page and year. LMSD's own site says it was named a Great Pennsylvania Schools district in 2025. For a like-for-like look across districts, pull the same schools and year from the state's Future Ready PA Index.
